Fun Fact: Jimmie Foxx’s had a 20-year career in baseball and on the field played almost all positions except second base. In this image he is making his last stint at third base as a Boston Red Sox, although he would later give third base a go with the Cubs and the Phillies.
The player sliding into third for a triple under Jimmie Foxx’s tag is rookie Pete Suder. Suder spent his entire 20-year career with the Athletics, both the Philadelphia and Kansas City varieties. In 1941, Pete had the dubious distinction of batting into the most double plays in the American League - 23 in total.
