Photo Subject: A reenactment of the iconic scene from the movie “Field of Dreams” where ghost members of the Chicago Black Sox emerged from a cornfield in Dyersville, Iowa to play baseball.

Fun Fact: This image was a promotional photo intended to promote a game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox near the original movie site in Dyersville, Iowa. A temporary 8,000-seat park was built to host the game. I guess “If you build it, they will come.”

Spectators will have to walk along a path through the corn fields to get to the new field. The game will count as a regular-season match, and will be the first regular-season MLB game ever to be held in the state of Iowa.

Originally this game was scheduled for August 13, 2020. Due to COVID, the game was rescheduled for August 12, 2021, but was canceled a second time.

Painting Detail: Printed on 13 ” x 19” canvas and painted using Schmincke Mussini and Marshall’s oil paints. Finer details were made using Prismacolor pencils.
